Heritage Fest is an entertaining and enlightening cultural carnival of contests for students from Junior KG to Class 10, celebrating India’s vibrant culture and tradition. It provides a platform for school children to offer their innate talent as an ode to Lord Shri Krishna.

Through a diverse range of activities and competitions, students can showcase their skills inspired by the rich heritage of India. This fest not only encourages young minds to embrace their cultural roots but also fosters a sense of unity and devotion among the participants.

Glimpses Of Heritage Fest

genetal Guidelines

  • All characters, situations, performances, dialogues, scripts, costumes, etc. should be based on Vedic scriptures. For authenticity, please refer the books authored by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
 
 
  • Please refer the program schedule for the date and venue of each event.
 
  • The registration Fee is ₹100/- per participant per temple event. And ₹50/- per participant per school event. The fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
 
  • Few events like Dance, Music, Theatre, Oratory are being conducted only at Hare Krishna Mandir, Bhadaj and not in schools.
 
  • Students may participate in multiple events, provided the schedule will not clash. In case of such clash children must participate in only one event & drop other events. Hare Krishna Movement is not responsible for it; no refund shall be done. We request children/ teachers/ parents to choose events rightly before registration.
 
  • Participants should provide their music in a Pen drive while collecting ticket.
 
  • Participants should make their own arrangements for food during the Heritage Fest events.
 
  • Preserve your Ticket that is provided to you against registration as it is very important. No entry / no take home prasadam without producing your ticket, in case of loss, participant must pay Rs. 50/- to register again for the event & collect the new ticket number.
 
  • Once registration is done in the name of Contestant A, and if A not able to participate in Competition due to any reason, we cannot change the hall ticket in the name of Contestant B. Contestant B has to register and get a new hall ticket. Contestant A shall be considered to be absent if not appearing for the competition.
 
  • All participants will receive a participation certificate & prasadam.
 
  • The winners of each contest will be evaluated by professional judges who are experts in their fields.
 
  • The judges’ decision will be final and binding.
 
  • The results will be announced on our website

  • Attractive prizes will be given away in a grand ceremony.
 
  • Special prizes will be awarded to the top schools to recognize their encouragement of the participants.
 
  • Prize distribution ceremony for all the events will be conducted at Hare Krishna Madir, Bhadaj, the schedule of which shall be published on our website and informed to the respective schools.

Gita Shloka Chanting

(Solo Event)

  • Eligibility: Class Jr.KG to Class X

    Guidelines: 

    • Memorize & recite following shlokas:
    • KG – 3: Chapter 4, any 3 shlokas.
    • Class 4 – 7: Chapter 7, any 4 shlokas with translations.
    • Class 8 – 10: Chapter 9, any 5 shlokas with translations.
    • For Gita Shlokas and translations refer only to The Bhagavad-Gita As It Is, by author A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
    • Mode of Language: English or Hindi

    • KG – III:  2 Mins
    • Class IV – VII: 2 Mins
    • Class VIII – X: 5 Mins
     

    Judgement criteria:

    Clarity in pronunciation, Fluency, Meter, Creativity, Translation (if applicable) & Understanding.

Solo Dance

  • Eligibility: Class I to Class X

    Guidelines:

    • Categorization Class 1 – 3, 4 – 7 and 8 – 10.
    • Any state dance like Classical, Semi-classical, Folk dance form can be chosen for the performance.
    • Select any theme related to Krishna, or Rama, or any other avatar of Lord Vishnu.
    • Film Songs or imitation of dance from movies will not be entertained. performed. Song to be submitted during registration.
    • Props allowed but should be manageable by the performer.
     

    Duration: 2 – 3 Mins

    Judgement Criteria:

    Choreography, Props, Coordination (for teams), Costume, Stage presence, and Expression.

Solo Singing

  • Eligibility: Class I to Class X

    Guidelines: 

    • Categorization Class 1 – 3, 4 – 7 and 8 – 10
    • Devotional songs/bhajans by great Saints’ like Vallabhacharya, Surdas, Narsinh Mehta, Mira Bai etc. or ISKCON Krishna Bhajans.
    • Filmy devotional songs will not be entertained.
    • Use of taanpura or karaoke track allowed. No auto-tune.
    • Instrumental self-accompaniment allowed.
     

     Duration: 2 – 3 Mins

    Judgement criteria:

    Voice & Tonal quality, Raga, Rhythm, Diction, Proficiency, Intonation, Synchronization, Co-Ordination, Instrument if using, taanpura & Overall performance.

Vedic Skit

  • Eligibility: Class I to Class X

    Guidelines: 

    • Acting based on Vedic stories like Ramayana, Mahabharat, Krishna Lila.
    • Filmy stories will not be entertained.
    • The list of theatre scripts/story outlines is shared on the website.
    • Enactment of any other stories shall be disqualified.
    • The skit must be performed in English or Hindi only.
     

    Duration: 10 Mins

    No. of members per team: 7-10.

    Judgement criteria: 

    Authenticity, Direction, Enactment, Props, Dialogue delivery, Coordination, Costume, Props & Make-up.

Group Dance

  • Eligibility: Class I to Class X

    Guidelines: 

    • Categorization Class 1 – 5 and 6 – 10.
    • Any state dance like Classical, Semi-classical, Festival/Vedic presentation, Folk dance form can be chosen for the performance.
    • Select any theme related to Krishna, or Rama, or any other avatar of Lord Vishnu.
    • Film Songs or imitation of dance from movies will not be entertained. performed. Song to be submitted during registration.
     

    Duration:  6 – 8 Mins

    No. of members per team: 5-10.

    Judgement Criteria:

    Choreography, Props, Coordination(for teams), Costume, Stage presence, and Expression.

Group Singing

  • Eligibility:  Class I to Class X

    Guidelines: 

    • Categorization Class 1 – 5 and 6 – 10.
    • Devotional songs by great Saints’ like Vallabhacharya, Surdas, Narsinh Mehta, Mira Bai etc. or ISKCON Krishna Bhajans.
    • Filmy devotional songs will not be entertained. Focus on spiritual and value based themes.
    • Instruments like Tabla, Harmonium, Manjira, Keyboard, Flute allowed.

    Duration:  5 – 8 Mins

    Judgement criteria:

    Voice & Tonal quality, Raga, Rhythm, Diction, Proficiency, Intonation, Synchronization (for teams), Co-Ordination, Instrument if using, taanpura & Overall performance.

Story Telling

(Solo Event)

  • Eligibility: Class Jr.KG to Class III

    Guidelines: 

    • Participants to tell a story from the given topics on the website.
    • Narration must be in English or Hindi.
     

    Duration: 3 Mins

    Judgement criteria:

    Voice modulation, Fluency, Body language, Language proficiency, Creativity and Overall impact.

Elocution

(Solo Event)

  • Eligibility: Class IV to Class X

    Guidelines: 

    • Prepare on any 1 topic from the given the given topics on the website.
    • The script narration must be in English only.
     

    Duration: 3 – 5 Mins

    Judgement criteria:

    Voice modulation, Fluency, Body language, Language proficiency, Creativity and Overall impact.

Instrumental Music

(Solo Event)

  • Eligibility: Class IV to Class X

    Guidelines: 

    • Categorization Class 4 – 7 and 8 – 10.
    • Classical & devotional instruments such as tabla, mridangam, harmonium, flute, veena, violin, sitar, santoor, keyboard, manjira, kartal etc.
    • Filmy devotional songs & electric guitars, drums will not be entertained.
    • Only instruments are allowed. No support artists or background track.
    • Play at least 3 talas (rhythms) for percussion instruments.

    Duration: 3 – 4 Mins

    Judgement criteria:

    Accuracy of notes, Clarity, Raga, Rhythm, Proficiency, Intonation, Interpretation, Resonance control & Overall performance.

Krishna Quiz

  • Eligibility: Class V to Class X

    Guidelines: 

    • Team Size: 3 Members
    • Written quiz followed by Oral quiz (for selected toppers).
    • The quiz questions will be based on authentic versions of Ramayana, Mahabharata and Krishna Lilas.
     

    Duration:  Written – 60 Mins, Oral – 60 Mins

    Judgement criteria: 

    Based on maximum marks scored.

Essay Writing

Eligibility: Class IV to Class X

Guideline:

Write an essay on any 1, based on given theme or topic.

  • Class 4 -7 Krishna Janmasthami/ Radhasthami/ The Life & Teachings of Lord Krishna. 
  • Class 8 -10: Krishna delivering knowledge of The Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna/ Krishna’s compassion for His devotees/ Lessons from Krishna’s Childhood pastimes.
  • (Min words: 300 – 400 words) 
 

Duration:  60 Mins

Judgement criteria:

Clarity, Creativity, Structure, Content, Grammatical composition, Introduction & Conclusion.

Coloring

Eligibility: Class Jr.KG to Class III

Guideline: 

  • Coloring sheets will be provided.
  • Participants should bring stationery items like pens, pencils, color pencils, crayons, erasers, etc.
  • Participants should mention their name and other details on the given sheet.

Duration: 60 Mins

Judgement criteria: 

Creativity, Visual appeal, Neatness, Presentation, & Color combination.

Drawing and Painting

Eligibility: Class IV to Class X

Guideline: 

  • A plain drawing sheet will be provided.
  • Participants will do the outline. Crayons, paints, any other coloring materials can be used.
  • Participants should bring stationery items like pens, pencils, color pencils, crayons, paints, erasers, etc.
  • Participants should mention their name and other details on the given sheet.
  • Paint a picture based on the given theme.                                                                                                                    – Krishna Janmashtami  –  Krishna in Vrindavan  –  Krishna Killing the demons                                      – Baal lilas.
